Our Catholic school is part of the Catholic Church. We work in partnership with our local parish and priests in order to enrich the spiritual life of the students, staff and families of our school, especially through the celebration of the Sacraments.
Catholic children receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation during their primary years. At St Francis of Assisi Regional Catholic Primary School Paddington children are prepared for the sacraments as part of a class program as well as participating in the parish sacramental program.
They receive the sacraments in the following years:
- First Reconciliation: Year 2
- First Eucharist: Year 3
- Confirmation: Year 6
Children who have received the Sacrament of Reconciliation have the opportunity to receive Reconciliation with the class once a term; this is arranged with our Parish Priest from St Francis of Assisi Paddington.
St Francis of Assisi works closely with our parish priest and members of the parish community to support the sacramental program. The Religious Education curriculum sacrament units are taught alongside aspects of the program used by the parish catechists. Both the school and members of the parish work closely together to plan each of the sacramental liturgies.
Participation in the prayer life of our parish nurtures our students to grow in faith and knowledge and live in peace.
