It’s an exciting time to be part of the St Francis of Assisi Regional Catholic Primary School Paddington family.

With a recent whole-school refurbishment, a dedicated emphasis on student wellbeing, and an innovative learning curriculum, it’s set to be a transformative period for the school’s students, parents and carers.

Nicole Hudson, Principal at St Francis of Assisi, said she was proud of the community that has been fostered in Paddington as the school prepares for an action-packed end to 2022.

“The feedback we always get from parents and outsiders alike is that students always look like they’re happy to be here,” Ms Hudson said.

“We have an unofficial motto—‘happy kids are the kids that learn’—and so providing a warm, welcoming and stimulating learning environment is a big focus for us at St Francis of Assisi” – Nicole Hudson

A dynamic school in the city’s centre

Nestled in the heart of the city, in a three-storey heritage building, the school was fully refurbished in 2018.

It now boasts fresh, contemporary classrooms and learning spaces that offer different opportunities to engage in collaborative and challenging experiences.

The upgraded facilities have helped compliment the school’s commitment to flexible learning and innovative technologies, such as a podcasting room that is utilised by senior students.

The school’s rooftop playground remains a unique centrepiece of the school and features a basketball/netball court together with an interactive garden space.

Supporting the diverse needs of students

St Francis of Assisi’s vision for learningtogether in faith we soar to the extraordinary—underpins the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of school life.

The school proudly offers Sydney Catholic Schools’ Newman Selective Gifted Education Program, which provides a wide range of activities that cater for a variety of gifted learners and support students’ social and emotional needs.

St Francis of Assisi students take part in the ground-breaking Amadeus Music Education Program, where students are taught an orchestral instrument by specialist music tutors.

The school is also currently working with secondary schools to develop entrepreneurial learning, empowering students to be critical and creative thinkers.

With strong sporting pathways, including a dedicated PE teacher, St Francis of Assisi students are provided with a well-rounded, holistic educational experience.

A faith-filled community

Importantly, St Francis of Assisi allows students, staff and parents to know and celebrate their Catholic faith.

The school shares the same site as the St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, and the parish enjoys a strong presence in the religious life of the school.

Inspired by the school mottoIn Giving We Receive—the school actively nurtures Catholic faith and tradition, and comes together regularly to celebrate community events.

This sense of togetherness is also found in St Francis of Assisi’s unique whole school peer support program, where students are encouraged to guide and collaborate with one another.
